Out & About with Linda – April 2026

This month I checked out Mt. Fuji Hibachi & Sushi Bar on Second Street Pike in Southampton.

So much fun AND, of course, delicious, I was accompanied by my sister, Michele and good friend, Eileen. Eileen was the “virgin” of our group… not too familiar with sushi, etc..  She was a good sport in trying something new and unfamiliar.

If you see the ad for Mt. Fuji on page 18, you’ll see they’re running a special on Bento Boxes. Clearly, we needed one on our menu! We also needed to get some sushi and a hibachi dish. If you’ve read my restaurant reviews, you know how I like to report on the full range of options at the eateries we visit! This visit was no exception. LOL!!

Our Bento Box arrived filled with delicious-ness. Stir fried shrimp, sushi, dumplings, rice and more. It was HUGE, a perfect dish to share. It made me think twice about using the special offer mentioned in their ad. Oh yes, it came with a miso soup that our “virgin” lapped up.

We ordered a chicken hibachi dinner including a clear mushroom soup and salad with a wonderful ginger dressing. The platter was hefty with fried rice, sauteed vegetables and plenty of chicken. Again, a dish that could be shared…that’s what we do when we go on these outings!!

And as if we didn’t have enough food on our table, we ordered three sushi rolls including shrimp tempura, California roll and sweet potato. Eileen learned how to “pop” the small piece of sushi with a single bite. She really enjoyed tasting and dipping all the different sauces. And her “poppin’ bites” improved as the meal progressed. Lol!!

Interestingly, before we ordered, our server, Jordon, made sure to ask if we had any allergies. Somewhat unusual. It’s the first time I had been asked that in a restaurant… however, just one glance at our table, and then looking at us take our spoonfuls of food from the plates on our table, it was easy to see…there were NO allergies in our group!!

This meal was special. The presentation, the tastes, it went beyond the usual style meal. The Bento Box especially was a sight to behold. Every dish was hot and fresh for sure, Mt. Fuji earned a repeat visit multiple times. Hibachi meals can be made

right before diners’ eyes at a family style Hibachi adding fun and entertainment to the “delicious-ness.”

Our stomachs were FULL, but dessert had to be had. I think our restaurant hostess, Michelle, could see we wanted something special to top off our meal and BOY! did Mt. Fuji deliver!! Served in a silver bowl, a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with

the slightest of chocolate sauce and whipped cream, surrounded by the most delicious fried banana slices. Who could resist?! The fried banana slices were warm and freshly fried. Yum! This is a MUST-HAVE ending to whatever meal you have at Mt. Fuji. Trust me. Trust us!!

Do I have to say any more? A longstanding restaurant in the restaurant landscape of Southampton, Mt. Fuji maintains its good taste and quality. Parking is easy and service is exemplary It got our “virgin” to become a sushi fan. It certainly renewed my

appreciation. Check it out. And when you do, please tell them you heard about them here, on the pages of the Uptight Subur- banite.

Good Stuff Thrift says their mission is to “operate the most efficient thrift store possible so that we can provide the highest level of funding for helping kids in need in our communities.” They accomplish that “mission” with flying colors.

I stopped by to see for myself what’s happening there. It was supposed to be a short visit but turned out to be anything but. The store is filled with home goods, kitchen goods, furniture, clothing for all ages, big and small, books, jewelry. Anything you can think of can be found at Good Stuff Thrift. And it’s not all “thrift.” Kate Spade dishes and Lenox China line the shelves. Clothing from all major brands fill the hangers. It’s really an extensive collection of all things good.

And the proceeds support those non-profits that support good work for our kids in need in our greater community. It’s a pretty special place.

There are quite a few store locations in Montgomery and Bucks County a lot of kids need help. No appointments needed to

donate goods, except for furniture. Drop off bins, etc. are conveniently situated right outside the store.

So, as you’re doing your Spring cleaning, clearing out your closets and cabinets of items you no longer want or use, think about taking them over to Good Stuff Thrift. They’ll make very good use of your “stuff” and you’ll be doing something good for a child who doesn’t have what you have. And, while you’re dropping off your donation, check out their shelves. You might find something you can use.

Good Stuff Thrift is a good thing and it’s right in our community, supporting our community. It’s a good thing all around.
