Out & About with Linda – February 2026

My travels this month took me well within our reading area… and to a restaurant that’s already a favorite among our readers.

Truth be told, I think in all my time in Montgomery County I’ve only been to Angelo’s once, maybe twice. So, it was time to re-visit and see what’s cookin’ at this established eatery.

Located in the newly named, Altimari Center on Second Street Pike in Southampton, Angelo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria is an anchor for this multipurpose strip center. At the other end is another anchor, Mt. Fuji Hibachi & Sushi Bar. This restaurant, too, has quite a reputation. And yes, has earned a visit from the Uptight Suburbanite down the road. Stay tuned!!

This visit to Angelo’s included friends Diane and Roland, and my sister Michele. Diane and Roland were real newbies. They had almost no familiarity with Angelo’s. I felt they were the perfect “guinea pigs” for this adventure… and they were!

Walking into this restaurant, one is reminded of those homey, Italian restaurants of before…before (some) Italian restaurants became slick and shiny. A weeknight, tables were filled with diners enjoying. We were escorted to a table in the back and then greeted by Jennifer, our enchanting waitress for the evening. I say “enchanting,” because she had a wonderful sense of humor, smile and twinkle in her eyes. She really made our Angelo’s Adventure even more of an adventure.

Wanting to know what we should order to get an idea of the menu, we turned first to pizza and wings as appetizers. We or- dered a small Margharita pizza, half with pepperoni. We loved the thin crust and sauce. We split our order of wings so we could get a few that were mild and the balance a bit spicy with garlic and parmesan cheese. Success!! Crisp and meaty, the wings really could have served as an entree. They were delish. Oh, yes, while we waited for these perfect apps, Jennifer served us a basket of warm foccacia. Fortunately, our appetizers arrived shortly after so we didn’t fill up with this really GOOD bread. (LOL!) I think the balance went home with Diane and Roland!!

As always, we ordered a variety of menu items to experience the breadth of Angelo’s menu. Roland ordered the Angelo’s Ital- ian hoagie that resembled a boat when it arrived at our table. It was HUGE. Loaded with four or five kinds of meats, it more than satisfied his eyes AND his stomach. Diane ordered the Chicken Italiano with chicken cutlet, spinach, and mozzarella on a foccacia roll. We all tasted it and agreed it was superb. Michele ordered the antipasta filled with veggies, olives, cheese… she went vegetarian and so did we as we shared her platter. I ordered a baked eggplant dish served with salad and pasta. I enjoyed the fresh, crisp salad. The pasta with their proprietary sauce was very nice. Roland described the sauce as “bright.” Ok it was “bright” AND delicious. Michele enjoyed the eggplant also and agreed the platter could be shared easily by two.

Our appetites were satisfied, but as is always “the rule” with these visits, we had to check out the desserts. Jennifer reviewed some of our options. She recommended the Tiramisu, made on premises. That was Diane’s choice. Roland and I wanted to check out the Chocolate Bombe, but Diane wanted to also try the Chocolate Truffle. In the end we ordered the Chocolate Truffle!!! Diane won, again…. Interestingly we learned that “tiramisu” means “pick me up” or “cheer me up.” And it did. Light and fluffy, it was unlike many a tiramisu that I’ve had. We all agreed it definitely cheered us up. And the Chocolate Truffle…. delish!! We were not sorry that we acquiesced to Diane. In fact, she can be in charge of ordering desserts all the time!!

We had a delicious time at Angelo’s. I believe I’ve mentioned this before, sometimes the most established of restaurants go unappreciated when new ones pop up and appear on the scene. When in fact, the more established may be even better than the newest and trendiest of places. I think Angelo’s Restaurant & Pizzeria fits this category. Their menu is large and varied. Their prices are fair and moderate. They offer weekday and weekend specials. And their welcome is warm and friendly. And parking is easy.

Check out Angelo’s for lunch or dinner. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. And please, tell them the Uptight Suburbanite
sent you…

Ok! I finally broke down and went to check out the QVC Outlet. Located in Malvern, this must be where QVC leftovers go for their “last rites.” You’ll see a lot of stuff clothes, shoes, some jewelry, some housewares, coats, no food products. Prices are drastically cut. REALLY cut. You may be able to find something terrific if you like the hunt. If so, it’s even more of a hunt than it might be with some of the other discount warehouse stores. But again, you may be able to find that Dennis Basso blazer you’re looking for. P.S. I did!!!

It’s worth a visit if you’d like to say you checked out their Outlet. Not sure I’ll re-visit but hey! I can say I checked it out, right?

A thirty minute drive and it was an adventure. For me, this time, it was worth it to be joined with Dennis Basso!!
